Climax C, 1935-37
"Theater". On back: C. R. & T. C. Chicago (Climax Radio & Telev. Corp.).
It is listed by the manufacturer as a 5 tube TRF Receiver. Tubes: 25Z5, 6D6, 6C6, 43, L-55-B
(ballast). Similar chassis to Lafayette AS-5. Also seen with a brass General
Television label on the back.
There are several differences between this radio and the similar Westinghouse
WR-100. They are both pictured on Machine Age To Jet Age Volume I, Second
Edition 1998 by Mark V. Stein (2001 update edition), page 208. The dial and
knobs are higher on the WR-100 and the base is cut slightly different. The
Westinghouse is a 5 tube radio, no ballast, in a configuration that would not
likely fit into the Climax model C case. The WR-100 has 4 tubes across the back,
the Climax model C only has 3 tubes across the back.
